Baptism is the sacrament through which we receive children and adults into the faith and community of the Christian church. Children of church members are taken into the care of the church in a baptism ritual conducted during Sunday morning worship one Sunday a month. Infant Baptism for MembersBaptism is a three-way covenant between God, the church and the individual – in this case a child and his or her family. Baptism for infants is the first step in membership in the church. In order to take that step, the parents must have already made a commitment to be active in the life of the congregation. Infant baptism assumes that parents will bring their child(ren) to church school, and that the congregation will support the parents and child(ren) by making available church school, confirmation classes, youth groups and other programs so that a child can affirm their membership when they are old enough to do so. Rituals for Non-membersParents who are not members may arrange for a private baby blessing or consecration service. This requires a meeting with a pastor. The suggested donation for this service is $200 for the church and $100 for the pastor.
Contact the St. Pauls office for information on membership classes or baptism dates.
