Activities for families with children aged 4 and under are planned throughout the year to foster relationships and to create a community of support. The POYC Steering Committee oversees the coordination of ongoing programs and plans fellowship activities to connect young families with each other. One or more representatives from POYC serve on the Youth Education Committee.

PROGRAMS

St. Pauls Playgroup:
Especially for children aged 3 and under, this weekly gathering lets babies & toddlers explore the Nursery while parents get a chance to share the joys and concerns of child-rearing.  Time:  Tuesday Mornings from 10:00-12:00.  Place:  St. Pauls Nursery.

Little Friends of St. Pauls:

Parents & kidlets participate in this special ministry with the elderly. Gatherings take place year-round on the third Monday of the month at St. Pauls House for an hour of song, exercise and fellowship with the senior residents. Time: 10:00-11:00 AM. Place: 3800 N. California.

Manna Meals:

POYC families provide a heartfelt welcome to St. Pauls families with new babies as they prepare & deliver a meal.

Baptism & Parenting Classes:

Held periodically, these classes help young parents learn about raising their children in the Christian faith.

EVENTS

Parents Coffee: POYC joins forces with the Youth Ed Committee and Parents of Teens (POTS) to host a getting-to-know-you Reception for all parents on the first day of Church School.  Date in 2010 TBA

 

Halloween Party: Costume Parade, Games, Crafts, Fun, Fellowship, Treats. POYC also supports the annual Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF appeal. Time: 10:00AM-Noon. Place: St. Pauls Gym. Date in 2010 TBA.

 

Spring Picnic: POYC families enjoy a pot-luck picnic and plenty of time for relaxed conversation. Place: Oz Park (or St. Pauls Gym in case or rain!). Time: tba. Date in 2011 TBA.

The faith journey of our young people is not a solo venture. It involves the whole family. The following annual events are designed to involve parents in the confirmation process.

• 7th Grade Lunch. Parents and kids attend a lunch meeting at the end of the 7th grade year to learn about the two-year Confirmation Pogram.  2010 Date: TBA 
• Covenant Breakfast. At the beginning of both the 8th & 9th grade years, parents and confirmands meet with the confirmation leaders to affirm or re-affirm and sign the Confirmation Covenant. 2010 Date: TBA 
• Confirmation Presentation Luncheon. 2nd year Confirmands with their pastors, leaders, families and sponsors make their final presentation at a luncheon that is prepared and served by the Confirmation I families. 2011 Date:TBA
• Confirmation Sunday 2011.  The Confirmation Class of 2011 will receive the Rite of Confirmation on the last Sunday of the Church School year.  Parents and sponsors process with the Confirmands.  Confirmation Class of 2011 is recognized during the service. 2011 Date: TBA

Newly organized in October of 2006, POTS brings together parents of teenagers from 8th -12th grade for informal discussions about college, curfews, and other concerns.  First year college parents are also welcome as they adjust to having a child leave home.

POTS plans events during the year including a Holiday Welcome for College Students and a special spring social hour in honor of graduating high school seniors.
